Under the patronage of the President of the University of Telafer, Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz Ahmed Aziz, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division at the university organized a scientific symposium titled “Causes of Bullying Phenomenon Among Students,” presented by Assistant Lecturer Ameen Hussein Amsan, Director of the Audit and Internal Control Department.
The lecturer began the symposium by providing a comprehensive definition of the bullying phenomenon, explaining its multiple forms, whether verbal, physical, or electronic, and the resulting negative effects on individuals and society. He addressed the fundamental factors causing bullying, including improper family upbringing, weak school supervision, media influence, psychological problems such as feelings of inferiority, in addition to peer pressure.
The symposium included proposing practical solutions to confront this phenomenon, including promoting ethical values in the educational environment, implementing clear disciplinary procedures, providing psychological support for victims, alongside organizing awareness campaigns, and the positive use of technology to reduce cyber bullying.
The symposium concluded by emphasizing the importance of cooperation between all components of the university community to reduce this phenomenon and create a safe educational environment based on mutual respect and tolerance, while opening the floor for discussion for attendees to raise their inquiries and share their experiences in this field.
