“congratulating Arabic Speakers: President of Telafer University Patronizes and Participates in the Celebration of the World Arabic Language Day”
Under his patronage and with his direct attendance, the President of Telafer University, Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz Ahmed Aziz, participated in the celebration organized by the College of Basic Education on the occasion of the World Arabic Language Day, which is observed on 18 December each year. The event was held on Monday, 22 December 2025, at the Martyrs of Telafer Hall, under the theme “The Arabic Language: A Vessel of Thought and the Memory of the Nation.”
In his address on this occasion, the President of the University extended his congratulations to all Arabic speakers around the world, emphasizing that the Arabic language represents a fundamental pillar of cultural and intellectual identity, a vessel of knowledge and science, and a key element in consolidating academic values within educational institutions. He also commended the efforts exerted by the university and its colleges in reviving cultural and linguistic occasions and in promoting awareness of the importance and status of the Arabic language.
He pointed out that the Language of Ḍād has gained greater honor and sanctity through the revelation of the Holy Qur’an in its letters, in addition to being the language of the Noble Prophetic Sunnah, Arabic prose, science, authorship, and research. Moreover, it is adopted as the official language of administrative correspondence at the university and other institutions.
Following the President’s speech, the District Commissioner of Telafer, Mr. Khalil Mohsen Habash, delivered a speech in which he praised this cultural initiative and underscored the importance of the Arabic language in strengthening national belonging and civilizational identity.
The President of the University was accompanied at the celebration by the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Huda Ismail Khalid Al-Jumaili. The event was attended by the Dean of the College of Basic Education, Professor Dr. Khalil Khudair Abbo, the deans of the university’s colleges, the Director of the Telafer Education Department, several poets from the Telafer district, as well as a number of faculty members, staff, and students.
The celebration was marked by a distinguished cultural atmosphere, featuring speeches and diverse segments that reflected the aesthetics of the Arabic language and its rich scientific and literary heritage, amid wide interaction from the audience, in a festive scene that embodied the status of the Arabic language and its pivotal role in building awareness and knowledge.
This celebration comes in line with Telafer University’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing students’ linguistic and cultural identity and improving the quality of university education, as well as Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) through promoting the values of dialogue, coexistence, and respect, and building a conscious academic community grounded in a sound language and a unifying cultural identity.
