University of Telafer Organizes a Workshop on Occupational Health and Safety Management in Accordance with the International Standard ISO 45001:2018
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Telafer, Prof. Dr. Abdulaziz Ahmed Aziz, and in the presence of the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Huda Ismail Khalid, along with the deans of colleges, their assistants, heads of scientific departments, and university staff, as well as quality assurance officers from the districts of Telafer, the workshop entitled “Occupational Health and Safety Management ISO 45001:2018” was launched on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Martyrs of Telafer Hall.
The workshop was delivered by Prof. Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Mahmoud Al-Ani, Advisor to the American University and Member of the Iraqi Institutional Accreditation Council.
In his opening remarks, the President of the University emphasized the significance of occupational health and safety management in educational institutions, affirming that maintaining such standards is not merely an administrative or regulatory obligation, but rather a national and academic responsibility that demands continuous vigilance and ongoing development of preventive measures and safety standards to ensure the well-being of all university members and students.
The workshop aimed to enhance the quality and sustainability of the university environment within a safe and healthy framework, by highlighting best global practices and modern techniques in occupational safety management, and by fostering a culture of prevention to ensure the continuity of the educational process at the highest levels of efficiency and safety.
At the conclusion of the workshop, a discussion session was held, during which participants contributed insightful ideas and constructive proposals that enriched the topic and emphasized the role of continuing education in capacity building and sustainable development.
This workshop comes as part of a series of initiatives adopted by the University of Telafer to advance the educational sector and to strengthen the concept of a safe and sustainable academic environment, thereby contributing to serving future generations and achieving the university’s vision of academic and institutional excellence.
