In an embodiment of institutional integration between academic, religious, and security entities, the University of Telafer hosted on Thursday, April 10, 2025, a distinguished intellectual symposium organized by the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the General Secretariat of the Holy Husseini Shrine in partnership with the Nineveh Directorate of Drug Control.
The symposium began with a speech by the Administrative Assistant of the University Professor Dr. Huda Ismail Al-Jumaili, who conveyed the greetings and welcome of the University President to the visiting delegation, highlighting the importance of these initiatives in refining university youth awareness and intellectually fortifying them. This was followed by a speech from Mr. Taha Al-Dibaj, representative of the Holy Husseini Shrine, who reviewed the strategic map of the shrine’s cultural and intellectual projects aimed at enhancing national and Islamic identity.
The symposium focused on two main axes; the first addressed “Community Peace: Humanitarian Values and Civilizational Vision” presented by Assistant Lecturer Ali Al-Hamdani, reviewing the philosophical and religious foundations of community peace, its manifestations in the system of human values, and its role in enhancing national cohesion and facing the challenges of intellectual polarization.
The second axis addressed “Drugs and Their Dangers” presented by Mr. Falah Mahdi Al-Jubouri, Media Director of the Drug Control Directorate, exploring the multifaceted dimensions of the drug phenomenon and its health, social, and economic implications, with insights into developments in the world of drugs and innovative promotion methods, and modern strategies to combat them.
The interventions and profound questions presented by participating students reflected a growing awareness of the seriousness of the issues raised and their impact on the social fabric, enriching the dialogue and adding an interactive analytical dimension to it.
The University of Telafer’s hosting of this symposium comes in the context of its integrated approach in building an intellectually and culturally fortified student personality, capable of effectively contributing to the society’s sustainable development project, and reinforcing its vision in extending bridges of cooperation with leading national institutions.
