“University of Telafer Participates in Ministerial Workshop on Laboratory Safety and Security Standards in Iraqi Universities”

In alignment with its commitment to strengthening institutional safety systems and implementing national standards within its educational and research environments, the University of Telafer took part in the ministerial workshop titled “Implementing Chemical, Biological, and Radiological (CBR) Safety and Security Standards in Laboratories and Storage Facilities of Public Universities.” The event was organized by the Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Safety and Security Division at the Research and Development Department of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the patronage of His Excellency Minister Professor Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, and hosted by the University of Technology.

The University of Telafer was represented by Dr. Ashraf Raad Salem, Head of the CBR Safety and Security Division, and Dr. Mohammed Mowaffaq Sahri, Head of the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Division. The workshop saw broad participation from representatives of various Iraqi universities.

The workshop was attended by several distinguished officials, including the Deputy Minister for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Haidar Abdul-Dahad, the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza, along with his vice presidents for administrative and scientific affairs. Also present were Professor Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi, Director of the Research and Development Department, Dr. Ali Abdulaziz Al-Yasiri, Director General of the National Joint Planning Center at the National Security Advisory, as well as a number of college deans and university vice presidents from both within and outside the University of Technology.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of chemical, biological, and radiological safety and security in university laboratories as a fundamental pillar for ensuring the quality of education and scientific research. He reaffirmed the ministry’s continued support for universities in implementing safety standards and overcoming challenges that hinder their practical application.

The University of Telafer’s participation in this workshop underscores its dedication to creating a safe and sustainable educational and research environment, while enhancing the capabilities of its staff in laboratory security. This commitment aligns with the university’s mission to achieve institutional excellence based on the highest professional and academic standards.
