“President of the University of Telafer Participates in Awareness Seminar on Drug Prevention at Telafer General Hospital”
As part of efforts to strengthen institutional cooperation in combating social scourges and protecting the fabric of society, Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Ahmed Aziz, President of the University of Telafer, participated in a scientific awareness seminar on drug prevention held at Telafer General Hospital on Monday, April 29, 2025. The event witnessed prominent official and community attendance.
The seminar was attended by a distinguished group of local dignitaries, including Dr. Khalid Younis Elias Al-Bayati, Director of Telafer General Hospital, and Mr. Khalil Mohsen Hussein Al-Habash, Chief Administrator of the Telafer District, along with several directors of government departments, tribal leaders, and representatives from security agencies responsible for community protection.
During the seminar, the University President delivered an outstanding academic lecture in which he comprehensively addressed the negative impacts of drug abuse on the social, health, and economic structures of society. He elaborated on the psychological, physical, and social dimensions of this dangerous phenomenon, emphasizing the vital role of educational institutions in building a comprehensive awareness and prevention system.
He confirmed the importance of unifying the efforts of social, educational, and security institutions in confronting this societal challenge. He underscored the shared responsibility of families, schools, universities, and religious institutions in building internal resilience among youth and highlighted the need to activate both community and legal monitoring mechanisms to curb the spread of this issue.
The seminar witnessed rich academic and intellectual engagement from the attendees. Discussions centered around prevention and treatment strategies, methods of community awareness, and the development of a shared vision to enhance coordination among the various stakeholders involved. The event aimed to foster a comprehensive framework to protect society, particularly youth, from the destructive grip of drug abuse.
