“University of Telafer’s Participation in the Ministerial Meeting to Develop Women’s Affairs Programs in Higher Education”
Building on its strategic vision to elevate the status of women in the academic community and affirm their leadership role in sustainable development, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University of Telafer was represented by Assistant Lecturer Alaa Mohammed Ali and Assistant Lecturer Qadriya Jafar Mohammed at the ministerial meeting chaired by Associate Professor Dr. Nida Al-Abadi, Director of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The meeting was held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Northern Technical University.
The meeting aimed to discuss strategic frameworks and implementation mechanisms for future women’s affairs plans and programs. Associate Professor Dr. Al-Abadi emphasized the necessity of strengthening collaborative ties among Iraqi universities and developing practical programs aligned with the Third National Action Plan on Women, Security, and Peace.
Discussion points included assessing the current state of women-focused initiatives and identifying pathways for their enhancement in line with societal needs. The attendees also explored coordination mechanisms between universities and the exchange of best practices in academic and professional empowerment of women. The meeting highlighted the importance of launching unified awareness campaigns to address domestic violence and child marriage, underscoring the pivotal role of universities in promoting a culture of respect for women’s rights and advocating for their legitimate causes.
