“University of Telafer and the Independent High Electoral Commission Cooperate to Facilitate Voter Registration Updates for University Staff and Students”

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation with official state institutions and promote active participation in the electoral process, the University of Telafer welcomed mobile teams from the Independent High Electoral Commission – Nineveh Office to provide university staff and students with the opportunity to update their voter registration data or transfer their polling centers from one area to another.

Updating the biometric voter card is a foundational element in the democratic electoral system, enabling citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote with ease and accessibility. The university placed considerable emphasis on supporting this process, in line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and based on its firm belief that academic institutions play a vital role in fostering political and civic awareness among various segments of society.

To ensure the success of this initiative, the university provided the necessary logistical support, including appropriate venues and accessibility to the mobile teams. Additionally, it conducted awareness campaigns on campus to emphasize the importance of updating voter information. This reflects the university’s commitment to serving as an active contributor in building a democratic society rooted in conscious participation in decision-making.

This initiative represents a significant step toward expanding participation in the electoral process and reinforcing the concept of active citizenship among a key demographic. It contributes to the promotion of democratic values and the advancement of institutional governance.
