“University of Telafer Launches Awareness Campaign on the Hazards of Heated Plastic Bottles”
The Department of Media and Government Communication at the University of Telafer, in cooperation with the Student Activities Department, organized a health and environmental awareness campaign titled “Your Health Is at Risk… Beware of Water Bottles Exposed to Heat.” The campaign targeted university students as well as academic and administrative staff.
Held across the university campus, the campaign included the distribution of educational posters addressing the health risks associated with exposing plastic water bottles to high temperatures and direct sunlight. The posters explained that plastic containers may release harmful chemicals into the water when subjected to temperatures exceeding 30–40 degrees Celsius.
The posters also provided practical guidance and safe handling tips, such as storing water bottles in cool, shaded areas and avoiding leaving them in cars or near sun-exposed windows.
This initiative is part of the University of Telafer’s broader efforts to promote health and environmental awareness within the university community and to foster a culture of safe practices that protect individuals and society from chemical contamination risks.
