“University of Talefar Organizes Awareness Campaign to Support the Deaf and Promote Their Inclusion in Education”
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdulaziz Ahmed Aziz, President of the University of Talefar, and as part of the university’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and supporting people of determination, the Department of Media and Government Communication, in cooperation with the Department of Student Activities, organized a volunteer awareness campaign entitled “The Deaf and Their Integration in Education.”
The campaign was held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the university presidency and its affiliated colleges.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness of the importance of integrating the deaf community into the educational environment, highlighting ways to enhance their active participation within the university, and ensuring equal opportunities for education and academic engagement for all students without exception.
The activities included distributing informative and awareness posters that addressed the nature of hearing disabilities and methods of effective communication with the deaf. The campaign also conveyed social messages encouraging respect for diversity and difference, and promoted values of human understanding and social openness within the academic community.
As part of the initiative, an interactive educational link was launched to enable students and interested individuals to learn the alphabet and gestures of sign language in an accessible and engaging way. This step aims to develop practical communication skills with people with hearing disabilities and to foster a culture of inclusive education across academic institutions.
