“University of Telafer Organizes Mourning Stand to Commemorate the Souls of Martyrs and Genocide Victims”

Stemming from its deep concern for humanitarian and national issues, and within the framework of commemorating the National Day of Genocide against Yazidis and other Iraqi components, and implementing directives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the University of Telafer organized on Sunday morning, August 3, 2025, a mourning stand to commemorate the souls of all Iraqi martyrs and genocide victims, where the stand included a minute of silence in reverence and respect for the souls of the righteous victims who fell victim to terrorism and injustice.

The University President, Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz Ahmed Aziz, participated in the stand alongside university personnel from faculty and administrative staff, all expressing their deep solidarity with all Iraqi components that were subjected to persecution and forced displacement, and affirming that these brutal crimes represent a flagrant violation of basic human rights and will remain a shameful stain in human history.

The university remembered on this painful day the genocide that the city of Telafer and its people of all ethnic and religious components were subjected to, which left deep pain in the hearts of families and indelible scars in the city’s memory, emphasizing the necessity of preserving the memory of these martyrs and working diligently to prevent the repetition of such human tragedies.

This stand embodies the University of Telafer’s firm commitment to principles of human justice and human dignity, and its steadfast support for all oppressed and persecuted people everywhere, as well as its unlimited support for national reconciliation efforts and building a unified democratic Iraq that embraces all its children without discrimination, and ensures their living in safety and dignity under the umbrella of one homeland and just law.
