“President of University of Telafer Concludes Participation in Pioneering National Program for Training Iraqi University Leaders”

The President of the University of Telafer, Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz Ahmed Aziz, concluded his participation in the first national program dedicated to qualifying and developing Iraqi government university presidents on Thursday, July 17, 2025, organized by the Higher Institute for Leadership Preparation and Qualification in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Hamid Naeem Al-Ghazi, in an unprecedented strategic initiative aimed at empowering academic leaders to face contemporary challenges in higher education.

The intensive training program over four days included vital axes covering institutional governance, transformational leadership, and digital transformation in education, in addition to strategies for developing universities to become productive institutions capable of contributing to national development, with focus on mechanisms for advancing international rankings and developing sustainable financing systems for academic institutions, where elite experts and specialists in university administration and institutional development participated in presenting these axes.

The program activities witnessed qualitative interaction through applied workshops that focused on developing a practical roadmap for modernizing Iraqi universities, where participants exchanged experiences in developing institutional performance and finding innovative solutions to challenges facing university education, contributing to enhancing the University of Telafer’s ability to keep pace with global developments in higher education and achieve its vision of being a pioneering academic institution that serves society and contributes to building a knowledge economy.
