“University of Telafer Hosts Specialized Symposium on Sustainable Gas Technologies in Cooperation with the General Gas Company”

As part of the University of Telafer’s efforts to enhance awareness of clean energy technologies and support sustainable development efforts, and embodying the vision of the University President, Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz Ahmed Aziz, in activating knowledge partnership with specialized institutions, the University of Telafer, in cooperation with the General Company for Gas Filling and Services/Nineveh Branch, organized a specialized scientific symposium on strategic gas projects on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the university campus.

The symposium witnessed the participation of a specialized technical delegation from the General Gas Company headed by Mr. Ammar Wazir Shihab, Head of the Media Unit at the Nineveh Gas Branch, along with elite specialists in the field of gas systems, and attended by university personnel and the liaison officer of the West Nineveh Security Directorate, as well as a gathering of university students from various colleges.

The University President inaugurated the symposium with a sound scientific lecture addressing the complementary relationship between energy systems and sustainable development, highlighting the environmental and economic necessities for transitioning towards less environmentally polluting energy sources, and the importance of keeping pace with global trends in this vital field.

Meanwhile, Engineer Mohammed Karim Fathi, Head of the Vehicle Gas System Addition Workshop, presented a detailed technical presentation on the economic and environmental advantages of these systems, addressing safety aspects and technical specifications for various types available in the Iraqi market. Engineer Abdul Karim Yassin Taha and Mr. Faisal Ismail Mohammed, specialists in gas networks, also reviewed the technical and economic aspects of the residential and industrial networks project, explaining implementation mechanisms and the expected societal returns from applying these technologies.

This qualitative initiative embodies the University of Telafer’s commitment to its community role in spreading the culture of sustainability and enhancing partnership with specialized national institutions, seeking to build community awareness about the importance of investing in clean energy technologies, and supporting efforts towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly economy.
