“University of Telafer Organizes Specialized Seminar on Legal Protection of Patents in Iraqi Laws”
Within the framework of the University of Telafer’s continuous efforts to promote a culture of innovation and intellectual property in the academic environment and protect the rights of creators and inventors, the Technology Incubator and Ecosystem Division at the university organized a specialized scientific seminar titled “Legal Protection of Patents in Iraqi Laws” on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
The seminar was presented by Assistant Lecturer Alaa Awni Mohammed Ali, Head of the Legal Division at the College of Nursing, who reviewed the comprehensive legal framework governing patent protection in Iraq, highlighting the legislation and laws in force that guarantee inventors’ rights and encourage innovation and scientific creativity.
The seminar addressed important topics including the legal definition of patents and conditions for obtaining them according to Iraqi law, as well as reviewing the available legal mechanisms for protecting intellectual property rights and judicial procedures followed in cases of patent infringement, providing researchers and innovators with the necessary legal knowledge to protect their scientific achievements.
This seminar comes as part of a series of scientific and awareness events organized by the university to support its vision of promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, affirming its commitment to providing the necessary legal and technical knowledge to protect scientific production and encourage researchers to register their inventions and protect their intellectual property rights according to sound legal foundations.
