“Dean of the College of Basic Education at the University of Telafer Chairs Master’s Thesis Defense Committee at the University of Mosul”

As part of his academic engagement in research supervision and scholarly evaluation, Professor Dr. Khalil Khudhur Abbo, Dean of the College of Basic Education at the University of Telafer, chaired the defense committee of a master’s thesis at the Department of Mathematics, College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Mosul, on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

The committee discussed the thesis titled “Enhancing the Outcomes of the Homotopy Analysis Method Using the Runge-Kutta Algorithm to Solve Linear and Nonlinear Fractional-Order Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations,” submitted by the student Shwan Slo Abdil. The defense was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Jasim Fathi Ali, Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Professor Dr. Yasser Yahya Qasim, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, and several faculty members of the department.

The thesis addressed the development of a hybrid mathematical algorithm based on combining the Homotopy Analysis Method with the Runge-Kutta algorithm (HAM-OBE) to improve the accuracy of approximate solutions for both linear and nonlinear fractional-order ordinary and partial differential equations. The method’s performance was evaluated against other algorithms to assess its proximity to exact analytical solutions.

At the conclusion of the defense, the Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Mosul presented a formal letter of appreciation to Dr. Khalil in recognition of his distinguished scientific efforts and valuable contributions to the assessment and enrichment of the research.
